Porsche's Socal Hot Spot Is Officially Open

Porsche opens $60 million experience center for customers in Los Angeles

A four-mile racetrack sounds like a practical Porsche perk.

Porsche's second Experience Center in the US is now open. The $60 million, 53-acre complex is Porsche Motorsport North America's new headquarters and is a place where drivers can experience the automaker's sports cars firsthand. In other words, it's a Porsche playground.

The complex includes a four-mile track, which is broken down into two circuits with a total of eight different training modules, a racecar exhibit, and a high-end restaurant. As far as driving is concerned, Porsche pilots can test the cars' acceleration on a straightaway, practice driving in slippery conditions on a low-friction course, and even take the cars off the beaten path on an off-road course. While honing our rally skills with a 911 sounds like a dream come true, we expect Porsche to limit the off-road course to the Macan and Cayenne.

The new Experience Center isn't for existing customers only. Visitors are invited to take part in a 90-minute driving session. The sessions are led by a Porsche instructor on the track and, as one would guess, aren't exactly cheap. As the Los Angeles Times reports, a session behind the wheel of a Porsche 718 Boxster costs $384, while prices rise to $950 to drive a 911 Turbo or a 911 GT3.
