Kings, Staples Center will host 2017 All-Star Weekend
NASHVILLE -- The Los Angeles Kings will be the host team for the 2017 NHL All-Star Weekend, Commissioner Gary Bettman announced Saturday during a press conference at the Music City Center during his annual address at the All-Star Game.
The League's midseason showcase will take place Jan. 28 and Jan. 29 and will include the NHL All-Star Skills Competition and the NHL All-Star Game.
Commissioner Bettman said the game was awarded to Los Angeles in part because the Kings will be celebrating their 50th anniversary, but also, in part, because of the impact their home arena, Staples Center, has had on the transformation of downtown Los Angeles.

Gibson's Net Skills On Full Display At The 2016 NHL All Star Game
16 moments from All-Star Weekend
5. Gibson's save on Seguin
The goalies were a huge factor Sunday with some remarkable saves and even some offense, including assists from Anaheim Ducks goalie John Gibson, Nashville Predators goalie Pekka Rinne, New Jersey Devils goalie Cory Schneider and Tampa Bay Lightning goalie Ben Bishop.
It was hard to find a more memorable goalie moment than Gibson's right skate save on Dallas Stars forward Tyler Seguin with 2:26 left in the semifinal game between the Pacific and Central Divisions.
Vancouver Canucks forward Daniel Sedin carried the puck in with Seguin, joining him for a 2-on-1. Sedin delivered a perfect pass across the slot to Seguin for a one-timer from below the left circle. Somehow, Gibson pushed off, slid across and stopped the shot with his skate.
Burns got to the puck first and quickly moved it up to Calgary Flames forward Johnny Gaudreau, who went in on a 2-on-0 with Edmonton Oilers forward Taylor Hall. Gaudreau dished to Hall, who scored 10 seconds after Gibson made the save, giving the Pacific an 8-5 lead when it was inches away from being in a one-goal game.

2016 NHL All Star Game Jersey Is Simple, Yet Complex
NHL unveils 2016 Honda NHL All-Star Game jerseys
Each All-Star jersey features the official NHL Shield infused with the Predators' gold in the crest. For the on-ice version of the All-Star jersey, the crest has been constructed with reflective material which glimmers in certain light as a salute to Nashville's vibrant night-life scene. The black and white color scheme in each jersey shares the colors of the keys on a piano to celebrate the city of Nashville's "Music City" nickname.
The All-Star jerseys will feature numbers and letters designed as modern interpretations of traditional country music poster lettering, which has been a defining aesthetic of Nashville. The numbers for the on-ice versions of the All-Star jerseys also will have the same reflective material as the crest. The tri-star mark, which appears in the neck gusset as well as on the pant, is a tribute to the Tennessee state flag and the Predators and a symbol of the elite athletes participating in the 2016 Honda NHL® All-Star festivities. Each All-Star jersey will feature two full-color shoulder patches – the player's home team logo and the NHL All-Star logo.

Times Are Great For Trout
Trout's MVP among many notable All-Star accomplishments
Mike Trout figures to achieve many baseball firsts in his career, given the way the first five seasons have gone.
One that stands high on the list for now is that he’s the first player in major league history to win the All-Star Game MVP award in consecutive seasons.
Trout won the award after homering, beating out a double play in a key spot and scoring a second run in the American League’s 6-3 win over the National League in Tuesday’s All-Star Game.
The home run completed a "first at-bat cycle" for Trout in All-Star Games. He had a single in his first at-bat in 2012, a double in 2013, a triple in 2014 and a home run in 2015.
