Nostalgia Is Driving Up Their Value

10 Emerging Collector Cars That Are Starting To Increase In Value

1990 – 1996 Nissan 300ZX

Many Nissan fans will say that Nissan stopped being a sports car company when the S30 line (240/260/280z) line of z-cars ceased production. The first generation Z-cars caught the attention of collectors a long time ago and have increased in value. Now, the time has come for the 300zx produced between 1990 and 1996.

Later generation Z-cars became more luxurious and some of the turbo cars produced notable performance. With bigger turbos and other mechanical modifications, the 300zx turbo could be tweaked to produce amazing performance.

The z32 model that was first introduced in 1990 had a pioneering design at the time. Available in a two-seater, coupe and convertible body style, the 300zx handled very well and had a gorgeous design. While 1990 through 1996 300zxs can still be found in good condition at a reasonable cost, don’t expect this to be the case forever.

1995 – 1999 BMW M3

The e36 M3 was the second generation of the legendary sport-coupe and the first to have a six cylinder engine. The E30 M3 that the E36 replaced have skyrocketed in value over the past several years commanding six figure prices for low-mileage examples in good condition.

The E36 M3 put out close to 250 horsepower, was very balanced, and offered in a coupe, sedan and convertible body style. The M3 was available in bright colors such as Dakar Yellow, Techno Violet, and Estoril Blue, colors that are sought after today. The only E36 M3 model that has increased in value is the rare lightweight CSL model sold in 1995.

1992 – 2001 Mercedes Benz SL600

Replacing the legendary R107 series Mercedes Benz sport coupe that was produced between 1971 and 1991, the R129 had some very big shoes to fill. Available with a number of engine sizes ranging from a 3.0 liter V6 to 6.0 lite V12, the twelve cylinder model joined the line-up in its third model year. Producing close to 400 horsepower, performance was lightyears of the previous SL that it replaced. The new SL also came equipped with pioneering technology such as retractable roll-bar that pops into position in the event of a roll-over.

R129 SLs have been showing up recently in auctions, a sure sign that they have caught the attention of collectors.

An Unexpected Victim Of Cheap Gas Prices

Ultimate Irony: Cheap Oil Hurting Texas Truck Sales

Texas truck dealers are bummed. Their situation is best summarized by this gem of a quote from Atascosa Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram General Sales Manager Nick Flores in Wards; “We kind of had to semi-train our salespeople to actually sell. It took us a good 35 to 40 days, but we did adapt.”

Shucks! Gas is so cheap that dealers are actually having to work to sell trucks to oil barons. What a time to be alive.

“In the good old days, companies in the oil-field business would buy a dozen heavy-duty trucks at a time,” as Flores was paraphrased in Wards. “Now, they might buy two.”

Don’t worry though, it sounds like the people hocking pickup trucks are going to be just fine.

We look at it like a temporary thing,” San Antonio Mark Cross told Wards. “While we are waiting for a turnaround we can be concentrating on other areas. Good habits are formed in tough times.”

A Bit Southern Gentlemanly Hospitality At The Masters Tournament

Why do players help each other at Augusta?

AUGUSTA, Ga. – Masters practice rounds are now group efforts.

On any given day here, players young and old, grizzled and green, technical and instinctive, will join forces to tour Augusta National. The three- or four-man groups are essentially a meeting of the minds, with players and caddies exchanging tidbits of information about where to miss, how putts break and why different wind directions affect club selection.

Each player’s preparation is different, but most agree that it’s crucial to log plenty of practice rounds and to pick the brains of Masters veterans.

That’s why Matt Fitzpatrick, 21, practiced with Bernhard Langer, 58.

And why Jin Cheng, 18, took a spin with Tom Watson, 66.

And why Derek Bard, 20, hooked up with Larry Mize, 57.

At Augusta, sharing is caring.

Which is a bit unusual, of course, because in no other sport would world-class athletes help their competition succeed.

Can you imagine Steph Curry giving LeBron James tips on how to defend him?

Or Clayton Kershaw showing Bryce Harper exactly how and when he throws his filthy curveball?

Or Novak Djokovic telling Roger Federer how to return his lethal forehand?

Of course not.

Yet it is commonplace at the Masters for players to help each other on the most demanding course in the world – a venue that, Jordan Spieth’s recent success notwithstanding, typically requires a tremendous amount of course knowledge.

Pressed about the unselfish culture that exists here, Watson bristled.

“It’s the right thing to do,” he said.

After all, it’s how Watson learned the course back in the mid-1970s, when he relied on advice from Ken Venturi and Byron Nelson. Now, Watson is paying it forward, inviting Robert Streb, first-timer Troy Merritt and Cheng, the Asia-Pacific Amateur champion, for a Tuesday practice round.

As an amateur, Tiger Woods practiced with Jack Nicklaus, Arnold Palmer, Raymond Floyd,Seve Ballesteros, Greg Norman, Fred Couples and Jose Maria Olazabal. They went through all of the necessary checkpoints – the proper places to miss, the different chip shots, the subtle breaks on the notoriously difficult greens. Woods, of course, went on to claim four green jackets.

Even Spieth, who at 21 became the youngest Masters champion since Woods, needed some help along the way. Last year, he played nine holes with two-time champion Ben Crenshaw and Woods. Spieth’s caddie, Michael Greller, spent 45 minutes with legendary looper Carl Jackson (who was on the bag for both of Crenshaw’s titles) before the weekend rounds, talking about every hole. Greller compared it to meeting Michael Jordan and breaking down the NBA Finals.

Dodgers Start The 2016 - 2017 Season Off In Record Setting Fashion

Dodgers hand Padres futility mark with 27 straight shutout innings

SAN DIEGO -- No major league team has ever been as futile in its first three games as the Padres.

They simply couldn't find home plate in their opening series against the Los Angeles Dodgers, becoming the first MLB team to be shut out in its first three games of a season.

With Wednesday night's 7-0 loss, the Padres set the MLB mark with 27 consecutive scoreless innings to open a season. The old mark was 26 by the 1943 St. Louis Browns, according to Stats LLC.

Meanwhile, the Dodgers, who hobbled into the series with 10 players on the disabled list, became the first team since the 1963 St. Louis Cardinals to post three consecutive shutouts to open a season, a feat that was assisted by standout offense. Wednesday's win gave the Dodgers a 25-0 run-scoring edge in their first series.

For Some, It's Also Having No Car Payments

7 Joys You Only Get From Owning An Older Car

Modern cars are wonderfully capable machines, but for many petrolheads they just don't quite have the same attraction as a classic motor. Here, we're celebrating the joys associated with older cars

1. They offer a purer driving experience

The cars of today are so technologically advanced that you can safely hoon your favourite country roads at the kind of speeds race car drivers would have been proud of a few decades ago. The new Ford Focus RS is a ridiculously capable mega hatch, but when I attended the UK launch this week, I was treated to an hour-long presentation - 45 minutes of that was from Ford Performance chief Tyrone Johnson explaining all the technology beneath the car. It was fascinating, but it did emphasise just how much is happening between you prodding the throttle and the car reacting.

I love the tech side, but there’s something extremely rewarding knowing that your input is directly attached to the output. Older cars give you this sense of attachment, and it makes them so satisfying to drive, even in non-performance applications.

3. They look better

Humans are all very different, and when given the chance to be creative we’ll produce some wildly varying designs. Go to a classic car meet, and you’ll see cars that look absolutely nothing alike. Unfortunately, modern vehicles are largely designed by computers to be as efficient as possible, whether that’s efficient aerodynamically or with space or whatever other unique selling points marketers can shout about. Computers tend to come up with the same solutions as each other, so you end up with cars that largely look the same.

You don’t have to go back too far to find cars that were designed by real people, and you can find something that really makes you smile every time you look at it.

U.S. Shareholder Meetings Have Nothing On Their European Counterparts

Daimler shareholders brawl over sausage buffet

The incident, according to Bloomberg, was sparked at the automaker's annual general meeting in Berlin, where the Mercedes-Benz parent company announced dividends of €3.25 euros ($3.70) per share. As if that wasn't enough to keep the investors happy, the company served sausages – some 12,500 of them for the 5,500 shareholders present, which works out to more than two per head.

One gentleman apparently wanted more than his fair share, though, and started loading his plate up with wieners. A woman stepped in, and what started as a verbal altercation reportedly spiraled out of control to the point that the Polizei had to step in. Details remain scarce, but (mostly for our own amusement) we're the picturing a mess of sausages flying every which way, lederhosen being snapped, and handlebar mustaches pulled as the polka musicians tried to keep up the tempo. Daimler reportedly plans to either prepare more sausages next time around, or cut them out altogether.

No Suprise For The Last Call For Kocktails

KHLOE KARDASHIAN No More 'Kocktails' ... TALK SHOW IS DONE

Khloe Kardashian's done shooting her talk show ... FYI Network has shut down production of "Kocktails with Khloe" less than 3 months into its run.

Productions sources tell us the official announcement from the network was the show is on "indefinite hold" ... but that's just TV talk -- truth is, the show is dunzo. As for who decided to pull the plug? Both sides were unhappy.

We're told Khloe wanted to focus on her "other jobs" and had no interest in shooting the next season. Network execs could tell she'd "checked out" and weren't happy about it. There are several episodes in the can which will still air. We're told the finale will feature Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Chrissy Teigen and John Legend. So ... Khloe's going out with a bang.
