VW Group plan puts Porsche in charge of a 'super-premium' division 

It will coordinate efforts at Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini 

An Automobile report looks into what's happening on the organizational and technical sides of the Volkswagen Group, and what those changes could mean for the premium brands. The wide-angle view is that Porsche appears to have been anointed to "coordinate the future activities" at Audi, Bentley, Bugatti and Lamborghini. Audi would cede Lamborghini guardianship to Stuttgart, and Ducati — via a new concern called Ducati Enterprises — would become the shepherd for VW's other Italian investments. Executives target Jan. 1, 2019, to complete the reshuffle.

VW wants to save a boodle by tying up four of its five top-tier brands, and putting the one with the highest ROI in charge. Porsche, within its own house, wants to reduce expenditures by $2.3 billion per year over for four years, the savings already earmarked for improving internal processes like R&D and production. Having Porsche share those gains as well as lead development of platforms, components and future-tech strategies for the sister sports car brands could benefit everyone.

It's named after a breed of cattle. Though many Lamborghinis have been named after specific fighting bulls, this one is named after an entire breed. The extinct breed is called urus, or sometimes aurochs, that is closely related to Spanish fighting bulls of today.

It has huge wheels and brakes. Standard wheels on the Urus are 21 inches, but for those with a desire for bigger dubs, there are optional 23-inch models. These wheels are stopped by standard carbon ceramic rotors. The fronts are 17.3 inches in diameter, and the rears are 14.5 inches.

Maurizio Reggiani, development boss of Lamborghini, further explained to Autocar that the naturally aspirated V10 and V12 engines on models like the Huracan and Aventador will remain for quite some time, and they mean for as long as possible. So don’t expect to see these models to have newer and smaller engines anytime soon, or as long as Reggiani is the development boss. He then says that it provides “a sense of emotion in a super-sports car”.

Reggiani once said that a Lamborghini’s DNA is made up of design, emotion and performance – elements that define a new car. The company then puts these elements in a scientific way by making them physical things so that the new cars can be compared to an old one, or perhaps, its competitors. Other factors that matter include sound, speed, acceleration and design.

Instead of looking at old cathedrals or mingling with the locals, we decided to check out the local car museums where some of Italy’s finest cars were on display.

As it turned out the museums for Pagani, Lamborghini, and Ferrari—let’s be honest, those are the only ones we really care about—were all down the road from each other. It was about a 20 minute drive from each place to the next.

Lamborghini Centenario has finally been unleashed on the track

The Lamborghini Centenario is a limited edition masterpiece from one of the most celebrated automakers of all time. This supercar was mainly created to commemorate the 100th birthday of Lamborghini’s founder, Mr. Ferruccio Lamborghini, and was first introduced to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March of this year.

Only forty units have been produced for this stunning Lambo, twenty of which are coupes and the other half, roadsters. All of which have already been sold out amounting to at least $1.9 million each. It’s sad news for everyone of us who will not get to drive these forty bad boys but on a lighter note, thanks to technology, we’ll at least have a glimpse of its potential.

Montreal just upped the ante, and lowered the mileage: Witness a 1999 Lamborghini Diablo SV on offer for $500,000, with less than two miles on the odometer.

Listed by Lamborghini Montreal, this late-model, facelifted Diablo might be the lowest-mileage example in the world, with just 1.8 km on the clock. "Car has never been driven," the listing states, and with an odometer that's basically all zeroes, it's not an overstatement.

Of course, we sort of have to take the dealer's word on this—there's no clear photo of the digital odometer turned on. Or maybe, like Italian cars of old whose speedometers didn't indicate anything below about 40 mph, the odometer just doesn't light up for such paltry numbers.
