Ford’s recent financial woes have been causing concern among investors, but in his report yesterday, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas cranked up The Blue Oval’s valuation for the first time in two years, in part, because of the strength of Ford’s mighty but undervalued F-150. Good news for Ford and its much-coveted standing with investors.

Ford’s recent financial woes have been causing concern among investors, but in his report yesterday, Morgan Stanley analyst Adam Jonas cranked up The Blue Oval’s valuation for the first time in two years, in part, because of the strength of Ford’s mighty but undervalued F-150. Good news for Ford and its much-coveted standing with investors.
“We see Ford as an out-of-favor self-help story with room to surprise the market with cost-savings and profit-repositioning potential,” Jonas wrote. “At its current depressed valuation level, the value of its commercial franchise (F-Series) represents a larger percentage of its firm value than any other OEM under our global coverage.The study itself, which you can read here, quantifies the F-150 franchise’s value, stating:
We [at Morgan Stanley] estimate the F150 franchise to be worth 135% of the market cap of Ford.But of course, the F-150 isn’t the only reason why Jonas raised Ford’s earnings forecast by the largest amount in five years. Part of the move also has to do with CEO Jim Hackett’s restructuring efforts and cost cutting like FoMoCo’s planned $14 billion reduction in materials and engineering expenses, with the news site writing:
But certain moves like potentially restructuring segments of the company and redeploying funds could “halt years of underperformance,” he wrote. Ford has said it will move money around to shift the company’s focus away from car production and make more SUVs.Jonas’s report says that Ford “isn’t out of the woods yet,” and recommends reducing nameplates and leaving “loss-making regions” as potential actions that could crank up the stock price.

Why Ford Doesn't 'Raptor' The Mustang Is Beyond Me
Ford Mustangs come straight from the dealership with 800 hp for $40k
That's a hell of a deal.
Lebanon Ford, for example, likes to supercharge its Mustangs.
In 2016, the Ohio-based dealer could put a customer behind the wheel of a 727-horsepower Mustang, one that definitely rivaled anything Hellcat-badged from Mopar. This year, there's even more power courtesy, and the sticker's a reasonable-sounding $39,995.
Lebanon Ford starts with a 2018 Mustang GT, which they have priced at $31,785. A three-liter Whipple Stage 1 supercharger kit comes on top, giving you five bucks in exchange from $40k. The end result is 800 horsepower at the crank, and they have the dyno sheets to prove it. The Whipple blower extracted 775 crank horsepower out of a test car, and further tuning got it to an even 800. For any fine tuning needs, a Whipple Tomahawk handheld tuner tool is included.
There are a few caveats: the supercharger kit kills the Ford powertrain warranty. For a little less than a grand, you can specify a three-year Whipple warranty that covers it. The rest of the car's parts are still warrantied from factory, Whipple'd or not. Builds begin in less than a month, with the orders open already. Lebanon Ford says their "LFP" packages could extend to cars other than the Mustang in the future.

It's the last of 12 GT40 chassis built by Ford for 1967, the only year Mk. IV GT40s raced because of rule changes for 1968. And when it was built, it was really just a chassis built as a spare for the cars Ford took to Le Mans. The chassis made its way to private owners in the intervening years, one of whom collaborated with a former owner to finish it into a complete car. It has the correct dry-sump 427 V8 making about 525 horsepower and a correct 4-speed manual transmission. The project was finished in 1987. Of interest to potential buyers, the car is now eligible for participation in FIA-sanctioned vintage motorsports events.

Please God, Let The Ford Ranger Raptor Bless America Soon
We know it’s coming to Australia. The Ford Ranger, dead in the US since 2011, will return here in 2019 and, hopefully not long after that, the off-road Raptor spec will make an appearance. Ford has already announced the Ranger Raptor will debut very soon in Australia, so there’s a very good chance it’ll come stateside as well. Ford hasn’t confirmed this yet, but based on the success of the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, it’d be a dumb decision not to have a US market Ranger Raptor.

This Is Some Great News For Pony Fans
Former Shelby employees plan continuation 1965 Shelby GT350R
Three former Shelby American employees who worked on the 1965 Shelby GT350R plan to build officially licensed continuation version of the iconic sports racing car, with a few upgrades, Carscoops reports.
The project is being overseen by the Original Venice Crew, made up of former Shelby America employees Peter Brock, Jim Marietta and Ted Sutton.
The trio say they plan to produce 36 units starting this fall. They'll be based on the standard 4.7-liter, 289 cubic-inch V8 engine sourced from the Carroll Shelby Engine Co. and a four-speed transmission, plus fully reconditioned bodies. But they'll include experimental upgrades designed by Brock but left out of the original production models due to time constraints.
Those include a new front valance, Plexiglas rear windows and three-quarter windows, and an independent rear suspension designed by Ford.
Starting price is set at a cool $250,000.

[W]e know that Ford has already decided to pull the plug on the RS, and they’re gonna send it off with a limited-edition run of 1500 cars with the RS2 package and a Quaife LSD (something the car has always desperately needed). But why? Why did a car that American hot hatch enthusiasts have been craving for decades see such a short existence in the States?
Ford dealers. Duh.
So what did Ford dealers do? They fucked it all up.
They refused to allow test drives of the car. They put them behind velvet ropes, right next to the 2016 GT350R that’s been sitting untouched since Day One. They treated anybody under the age of 40 who was interested in one like they had leprosy. And then, of course, they asked for additional dealer markup, sometimes as much as $10,000 — and when the market balked at their asking price, they stood firm like the musicians on the deck of the Titanic, playing the requiem mass for their floorplan loans.
In fact, a quick search of online third party sites shows that there are still dealers asking for as much as $20,000 above sticker price for Focuses that are getting damned close to celebrating a birthday.

Based in Tucson, Ariz., F250R specializes in turning your average, workman F-250s into desert and rock crawling behemoths. And with a name like MegaRaptor, you know things aren’t going to be standard in any way.
Starting off with a stock F-250 with a 6.7-liter Powerstroke diesel-equipped truck; F250R changes quite a few things. First out are the truck’s front and rear fenders for flared units that are able to house the massive 46-inch Michelin XZLs (395/85R20) and aluminum wheels sourced from an MRAP (a military anti-land mine vehicle).
To fit these new wheels, in addition to the new flared fenders, and trimmed wheel wells, the company swaps the standard 8-lug hubs for a 10-lug that corresponds to the military pattern.
Pricing starts at $28,000 without the donor vehicle. A stripper model F-250 starts at $32,535, meaning without any options on either the truck or the kit, you’re looking at a $60,535 rig. Start adding some of the options from both Ford and F250R and you could easily eclipse $70,000-80,000.
