Speed Is Big Part Of Its Claim To Fame
New Nissan GT-R aims to be ‘fastest super sports car in the world’
It's years away, but next-gen Godzilla will be ‘world's fastest brick’
The automotive press has spent five years hypothesizing about the next-generation Nissan GT-R, and the prognostications won't stop soon. Autocar spoke to Nissan head designer Alfonso Albaisa, who revealed that the design team hasn't yet begun working on the car in earnest because the powertrain isn't decided. There'll be a new platform, and there are exterior sketches, but until the internals get locked in, the shell remains a mystery. The most important consideration, Albaisa said, is that the next GT-R be "the fastest super sports car in the world."
How will the GT-R achieve that? The designer would only say the new coupe would "play the advanced technology game," adding, though, that said game didn't necessarily mean hybridization. It's possible Godzilla could omit an electric motor. However, we'd be shocked if that happened when the primary competition — the Porsche 911 and even the C8 Chevrolet Corvette — have hybrid options planned or rumored over the lifecycles of their next-gen models, and super sports cars like Lamborghini and Ferrari are already confirmed for hybrid conversion.

What Could Have Been (Or Still Be?)
Why Can't Infiniti Ever Seem To Get It Together After ALL The Mistakes They've Made And All The Time To Fix Them?
I continued to follow Infiniti in hopes that they would finally get it right.
But in my opinion and the opinion of some many luxury car buyers they NEVER have.
People have made fun of the Big 3 for being brain dead for a long time and they were, but it seems Infiniti AND Acura are a special kind of stupid.
At least though it seems Acura has a couple SMALL rays of sunshine like the new RDX.
But Infiniti...you would think based on their decisions and the people who held the reins that the saying #WTF was birthed thinking of them.
Honestly, I don't remember a single company with more potential that has just gone through the motions like them.
It makes absolutely NO sense.
And what the saddest thing about that is so many people including us have always looked at them with great potential. The potential to be the Japanese BMW.
But all we've ever gotten was the most uninspired attempt at that and only getting to watch them fall on their faces time after time after time.

Will Dr. Z Help Build a New Z? Nissan/Mercedes-Benz Rumor Points To a New Nissan Sports Car
When reached for comment, Dan Bedore, director of Nissan’s North American communications, responded, “The Nissan Z is an iconic nameplate. We appreciate the excitement and interest in its future among Z fans and other automotive enthusiasts. We have not announced any plans beyond the 2018 model year Nissan 370Z and, as a matter of policy, do not engage in speculation about future product plans.”
However, response.jp notes that Nissan executives have watched the partnership between Toyota and BMW blossom into the new Supra concept with envy. The existing partnership between Nissan and Mercedes-Benz could yield similar results from another Japanese/German tieup.
Possible powerplants for the new Z include Mercedes-Benz’s 2.0-liter four-cylinder turbo found in the QX30 and Q50, as well as the 400 hp twin-turbo V6 found in the Q60 Red Sport. That long hood, however, hints at another option — the inline six found in the new Mercedes-AMG 53 models (and possibly in a new Aston Martin).
After all, the original 240Z used an inline-six, the L24 — itself a development of a Mercedes-Benz design licensed by Prince Motors for the original Skyline.

This 1991 Nissan 300ZX Is Faster Than A Bugatti Chiron And Expected To Sell For Less Than $100,000
[T]here’s this lovely 1991 Nissan 300ZX up for auction alongside the Tokyo Auto Salon in January, with a five-speed manual transmission and, oh, just a few modifications. Japanese tuning shop JUN Auto got the car and took its 3.0-liter twin-turbo V6 to 3.1 liters, modified the body, added turbos like you found on Porsche Group C cars to each cylinder bank and ultimately upped the car to about 1,000 horsepower.
The
300ZX went to the Bonneville Speed Trials and hit over 261.9 mph,
which, if we’re keeping count, is above what your precious Bugatti is
capped at. The 300ZX was modified to be road legal once back in Japan,
but the BH Auction listing
says the engine is virtually the same as it was during the trials. The
company expects it to go for between $71,000 and about $98,000, but it
could always sell for more.
