This 1987 AMG Hammer Wagon Is A Hero From Another Time
There was a time when an AMG wasn’t just some car you bought from a
dealership. Not long ago you, could take your Mercedes and a large stack
full of cash to the tuners at AMG—then a separate company from Benz
itself—and they would make you basically whatever you wanted, even if
that meant stuffing a 6.0-liter V8 into a wagon.
But it’s important to remember that AMG wagons began with someone with a
dream, a boatload of money, and some mad scientist mechanics willing to
build it.
